Troubleshooting
Calls end as soon as they start
The phone has signal and mobile data, but every call ends straight away, and Kompakt app → Diagnostics → Calls over 4G shows Registered No.
-
Check the phone's region:
adb shell getprop gsm.version.basebandIf it ends in
V236.P6, the phone is North American and needs theusaupdate package. Install it over what you have, from the recovery; no wipe is needed. -
Make sure the IMS app is installed and the phone restarted since: Calls over 4G.
Slow, apps without network, or the download manager crashes
After installing over MuditaOS, or another LineageOS build, without formatting data. The old system's data is still there:
- After MuditaOS, every app starts with its network access switched off, and the download manager crashes on MuditaOS's newer database.
- After an older LineageOS build, such as Android 13, KompaktOS starts but runs very slowly.
Back up what you need, then in the recovery: Factory reset → Format data/factory reset, and install the package again. See Install.
The install stops with an error
The download may be incomplete. Every release lists the md5 of each file; compare yours:
md5 -q KompaktOS-1.0-Global-GApps.zip # macOS
md5sum KompaktOS-1.0-Global-GApps.zip # Linux
certutil -hashfile KompaktOS-1.0-Global-GApps.zip MD5 # Windows
If it does not match, download the file again.
"Verify your PIN" after formatting data
Setup asks for the screen lock the phone had before, or setting a new PIN fails
with "Screen lock was already changed". That is Factory Reset Protection: the
old lock is kept in a separate partition, frp, which formatting data does not
touch. It only happens if the phone had a PIN or pattern before.
Erase it from the bootloader (fastbootd cannot reach it):
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase frp
fastboot reboot
Messages that are not errors
Install completed with status 3. Installation aborted. in the recovery.
You left Apply from ADB without sending a file. Nothing was installed and
nothing is wrong.
No such file or directory from adb sideload or fastboot flash. The
computer cannot find the file: it is not in the folder your terminal is in.
Type the full path to it, or drag the file into the terminal window.
